According to US officials, Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a renewed ceasefire in Southern Lebanon after a flare-up overnight between the two as the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran faces new tests.

This is reportedly what led to US talks with Iran in Switzerland being postponed. Vice President JD Vance, who is leading talks for the US, canceled his planned departure for Switzerland last night, and President Trump is traveling to Camp David today, The Gateway Pundit reported.

The ceasefire was announced this morning after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it killed “dozens of Hezbollah fighters” in response to four Israeli soldiers being killed.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has announced that all ships in the Strait of Hormuz must have insurance approved by Tehran, despite the agreement to allow completely open, toll-free shipping in the Strait. “All vessels must hold a valid insurance policy approved by the PGSA,” according to a newly released PGSA document, reviewed by CBS.

More from Fox:

CBS reports, “The truce was agreed following the deadliest flare-up in fighting between the two sides since the U.S. and Iran reached an agreement Sunday on their memorandum of understanding.”

The ceasefire was set to begin at 9 am ET. However, according to Axios, “In the hour after the ceasefire was supposed to come into effect, the Israeli military conducted strikes in southern Lebanon and Hezbollah launched drones towards northern Israel.”

Last night, all parties expressed commitment to the ceasefire, but Hezbollah reportedly launched strikes on Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon, killing the four Israeli soldiers.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared the following video on X earlier, announcing, “The IDF struck powerfully 150 Hezbollah targets in Lebanon and eliminated dozens of terrorists.”

“The Israeli enemy has intensified its continuous violations of the ceasefire, committing massacres and destroying residential buildings and civilian infrastructure,” Hezbollah said in a statement. “It has continued land assaults through attempts to infiltrate and control villages and areas it was unable to reach before the agreement.”

Israel also accuses Hezbollah of responsibility for repeated & blatant ceasefire violations.

The Israeli Defense Forces announced this morning, “In response to Hezbollah’s repeated & blatant ceasefire violations, the IDF struck 2 Hezbollah command centers in the Beqaa Valley, 80+ terror targets in southern Lebanon and eliminated dozens of Hezbollah terrorists.”

Israeli National Security Minister Itmar Ben-Gvir had declared that “All of Lebanon must burn,” following the reported strikes from Hezbollah.

“With all due respect to the Americans, Israel must make it clear to the entire world that the blood of our sons and the security of our citizens are not forfeit. All of Lebanon must burn,” he said. “Enough with the ping-pong. In the Middle East, you don’t win with measured responses and restraint—you need to go berserk. To obliterate. To crush the terror.”
