Could the U.S. Capitol be the next target for a terror attack?

U.S. Capitol Police just a short time ago discovered a highly suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Constitution Avenue and Third Street, NW.

“Our officers just responded to the area of Constitution Avenue and Third Street, NW, for a suspicious vehicle,” the U.S Capitol Police Account reads. “Please avoid the area while we investigate.”

Below is a live report from NBC Washington. Multiple police cars and flashing lights can be seen.

Police are also closing off the walkways.

WATCH:

The public is being urged to avoid the area while the police investigate.

Capitol Police confirmed to White House reporter Monica Paige that someone was driving a vehicle erratically onto the sidewalk and decided to shut everything around the Capitol down.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
