The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, announced on Friday the recovery of $1.9 billion in taxpayer funds that were misplaced during the Biden regime.

These funds, originally allocated to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for financial services administration, were identified as unnecessary due to procedural inefficiencies.

“$1.9 billion of HUD money was just recovered after being misplaced during the Biden administration due to a broken process,” the DOGE official page announced.

“These funds were earmarked for the administration of financial services, but were no longer needed. Secretary Scott Turner and DOGE worked together to fix the issue and de-obligated the funds which are now available for other use by the Treasury.”

According to the New York Post, “The contracts were earmarked for Carrington Mortgage Services and Selene Finance in August 2019 and would’ve paid out $751,221,224.87 and $836,689.235.84 to each company, respectively.”

“It is astounding how much taxpayer money can be saved with even a small amount of effort,” Elon Musk responded on this new discovery.

HUD Secretary Scott Turner collaborated closely with DOGE to address the issue, resulting in the de-obligation of the funds, which have now been returned to the U.S. Treasury for alternative uses.

This announcement came just a day after Secretary Turner established a DOGE task force within HUD to bolster financial oversight and efficiency.

“We will be very detailed and deliberate about every dollar spent in serving tribal, rural, and urban communities across America,” Secretary Turner stated in a video posted on X.

He also revealed that his team had identified an additional $260 million in potential savings earlier in the week.
