Department of Government Efficiency billionaires Elon Musk and Antonio Gracias raised concerns over a surprising increase in the number of Social Security numbers issued to noncitizens. They unveiled the startling findings during a presentation in Wisconsin.
Musk and Gracias showcased a “mind-blowing” chart highlighting the dramatic rise in SSNs granted to noncitizens. The revelations came during a town hall in Wisconsin, during which Musk presented a million-dollar check to two voters who submitted an online petition against activist judges ahead of the state’s Supreme Court election. Musk used the opportunity to reveal some shocking statistics about the Social Security system.

Gracias, who has been involved in evaluating Social Security practices, explained that their research uncovered an exponential rise in SSNs issued to noncitizens.
“In 2021, 270,000 SSNs were issued to noncitizens,” he said, noting that by 2024, that number had surged to 2.1 million.
Musk and Gracias emphasized that their findings were not politically motivated.
“This isn’t political,” said Gracias, offering his own perspective as someone with foreign-born relatives and strong support for lawful immigration. “This is about America and its future.”
Gracias further explained how illegal immigrants could easily obtain SSNs upon entering the United States.
“Once they’re here and apply for a work permit, the Social Security Administration automatically sends them an SSN — no interview, no ID required,” he said.
Musk took things further and accused the Biden administration of enabling the surge in SSNs issued to noncitizens. He argued that this was not simply a case of government incompetence but part of a broader agenda.
“The Biden administration wasn’t asleep at the switch. It was a large-scale effort to import as many illegals as possible, ultimately to reshape the U.S. voting system and establish a permanent one-party state,” Musk said.
Gracias also revealed that their research uncovered instances of noncitizens registering to vote, with some even casting ballots.
“We took a sample, checked voter registration records, and found that people in this group had registered and voted. We’ve already referred some cases for prosecution,” he said.
