Double booked: Trump rumored to make appearances at two huge hearings in different states – Washington Examiner

Former President Donald Trump‘s lawyer dispelled rumors that he would be attending two separate hearings in two states on Thursday, as his legal challenges’ timelines start to heat up over the next few months.

Trump’s attorney, Steve Sadow, said in a statement via NBC News that Trump “will be attending court in New York on Thursday” in the hush money case against him brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. On Monday, sources close to the election subversion case in Fulton County, Georgia, told the Washington Post that the former president would be attending the hearing on allegations that District Attorney Fani Willis engaged in an improper relationship with the lead prosecutor.

However, Sadow told the Washington Examiner that reports about Trump attending the Fulton County hearing were “pure speculation.” Sadow represents Trump in the Georgia case, which faces a pivotal hearing on Thursday in which Willis could be disqualified from the case.

On Thursday, New York Judge Juan Merchan will address Trump’s motion to dismiss the case. The hearing will shape the first of the former president’s four criminal trials, in which he faces 91 felony counts. He has pleaded not guilty to all of them.

Trump faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York that stem from hush money payments he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Merchan decided last year that the New York trial would begin on March 25. However, the date could be up in the air due to Trump’s federal election subversion case in Washington, D.C., the judge signaled last year. The Washington case was put on hold in early February, so its March 4 start date is delayed.

The Washington Examiner reached out to Sadow to confirm Trump’s New York appearance.
