EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Harriet Hageman Speaks to The Gateway Pundit About Trump’s Cabinet Nominees and Sham Ethics Committee Investigation into Matt Gaetz (VIDEO)

Wyoming Congresswoman and attorney Harriet Hageman spoke to The Gateway Pundit on Capitol Hill Wednesday night to discuss the incoming Trump administration and the weaponization of the House Ethics Committee against Trump’s AG Nominee Matt Gaetz.

As The Gateway Pundit reported last night, the Ethics Committee decided not to release the report on its years-long investigation into Matt Gaetz, which was revived seemingly at the behest of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy during his past feud with Gaetz.

However, Hours later, a document from the DOJ’s probe was leaked to The New York Times.

It can be recalled that the DOJ investigated the allegations against Gaetz but found that they lacked credibility and exonerated Gaetz of wrongdoing.

Gaetz has denied all of the allegations.

Notably, the House Ethics Committee reopened the investigation in 2023 as Gaetz ramped up challenges to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was later ousted by Gaetz’s Motion to Vacate the chair. This is nothing more than a political payback scheme aimed at stopping Gaetz's Senate confirmation for Attorney General. Some RINOs in the Senate, including John Cornyn of Texas, seemingly plan to use the Ethics Committee’s report against Gaetz to shoot him down as Attorney General.

Rep. Hageman told The Gateway Pundit, "Only in Washington DC does the admonition against double jeopardy not apply." She continued, "It doesn't matter what the facts are, what the law is, it is lawfare."

Hageman had this to say about why the Deep State is trying to stop Gaetz:

I've been on two committees with him. I've been on the select committee on weaponization of the federal government, and I have also been on the Judiciary Committee. Highly, highly talented, highly intelligent, he knows what the Department of Justice and the FBI have been doing over the last eight years, and I think he's willing to expose it and hold people accountable, and that's why they're afraid of him.

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Gaetz unexpectedly withdrew his name from being considered for AG due to the unfair distraction from President Trump's next term caused by the Deep State and RINOs.

Asked if President Trump's cabinet nominations will be approved by the Senate, Hageman said she "absolutely" does. She further compared Trump's "highly qualified" appointments to Joe Biden's "freak show" of appointments, including radical green energy Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and Biden's mentally ill transgender Assistant Health Secretary Rachel Levine.

Watch the full interview below:

Conradson: what are you looking forward to most with Trump coming back to the White House?

Hageman: Regulatory reform has to be one of the most important things. And obviously we won this last election based upon immigration, illegal immigration, the inflation. Obviously, people are tired of spending as much money as they are because of the inflationary policies of the Biden administration. So yeah, I'm looking forward to actually having policies in place to bring down the cost of energy and food. I'm also looking forward to the idea that we're going to get people as the heads of these agencies that understand what the purpose of the agencies are, which is not to make law but to enforce law as written by Congress.

Conradson: Do you think that Trump's appointments and nominations are going to be able to get through Senate approval?

Hageman: I absolutely do. I think that he's made some great choices. You know, who would be opposed to them is really the question. I understand the Democrats are going to fight every step of the way. But the reality is, these are highly qualified people for the positions that he's placed them in, and especially as you compare them to the Joe Biden appointments. That man who thinks he's a woman, I mean, the Joe Biden appointments, in many ways, was a freak show. And then, you had Jennifer Granholm as the Secretary of Energy. I mean, this woman knew absolutely nothing about energy policy whatsoever. So, I think these are highly qualified people that should be confirmed.

Conradson: And we see what they're trying to do to Matt Gaetz, both the RINOs and the Democrats right now. They're trying to damage his credibility. Have you ever seen an investigation like this, where a law enforcement agency clears you of criminal wrongdoing, and then your political opponents come after you?

Hageman: Only in Washington DC does the admonition against double jeopardy not apply. So, yeah, you'll see it here. We've seen it against Donald Trump. You know, it doesn't matter what the facts are, what the law is, it is lawfare. And I think that's what you're seeing against Matt Gaetz as well. You know, I've been on two committees with him.
