A viral video shared on Instagram claims a woman pledged to eat dog food until 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris is elected president.
Verdict: False
The video, which was originally shared on TikTok, shows a woman who cosplays as a dog named Lassie. In addition, the original video makes no reference to Harris.
Fact Check:
A new CNBC poll shows a close race between Harris and 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump, according to NBC News. The same poll indicates Trump is polling at 48% with registered voters, while Harris stands at 46%, the outlet reported.
The Instagram video, which has received over 4,000 likes as of writing, claims a woman has pledged to eat dog food until Harris is elected. “Suppertime,” text overlay on the video reads, followed by, “Im [sic] eating dog food until Kamala is President.” The video features the woman sharing a bowl of food with her two dogs.
The claim is false. The video, which was originally posted on TikTok, does not include the text overlay that references eating dog food until Harris is elected. The video was posted by the user @lassiesworld4, whose profile shows that she creates content in which she pretends to be a dog.

A link to the same user’s Cameo profile indicates her name is Blanka Szewczyk, and she makes comedy videos.
“I am the owner of the tiktok account @lassiesworld, where I cosplay as my character, a collie called Lassie. I entertain a crowd with my dog-like behaviour and everyday antics,” Szewczyk’s Cameo profile states. (RELATED: Kamala Harris Claims US Has Cut Flow Of Fentanyl In Half)
In addition, the Instagram video is not included in any recent credible news reports about Harris or the 2024 presidential election. Actually, the opposite is true. On Oct. 22, Lead Stories debunked the claim, indicating it showed “dog cosplay.”
Furthermore, Harris does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via her 2024 campaign website or her verified social media accounts.
Ahead of the Nov. 5 election, Harris will make campaign stops in Georgia and Michigan alongside former Democratic President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama to make her final pitch to voters, NBC News reported.
