FACT CHECK: Did Trump Announce Tucker Carlson As New Press Secretary?

A post shared on social media purportedly shows a press release from President-elect Donald Trump announcing commentator Tucker Carlson will be the White House Press Secretary.

As of the time of writing, the position has not been announced.

Trump visited President Joe Biden in the White House and discussed policies for about two hours, according to CNN.  Susie Wiles, Trump’s future Chief of Staff, was also present as this marks a return to doing so since Trump declined the exchange in 2020, the outlet reported.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, claims Carlson has been named the next White House Press Secretary. The image appears to be a screenshot of Trump’s press release that states Trump is honored to name Carlson for the position.

The caption reads, “HOLY CRAP THIS IS WINNING: Tucker Carlson appointed as White House Press Secretary!”

The claim is inaccurate.  There is no credible news report that suggests Trump appointed Carlson as his new White House Press Secretary. There is no such statement on Trump’s Truth Social or his X accounts. Trump announced all his appointments so far on those platforms. As of the time of writing, the position has not been announced.

This is not the first time misinformation surrounding Trump’s victory has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim a Seattle woman killed her father because of the results.
