FACT CHECK: Does CDC Data Say The COVID-19 Vaccine Could Take 24 Years Off A Person’s Life?

A photo shared on Instagram claims that data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows the COVID-19 vaccine could take 24 years off of a person’s life.

Verdict: False

The claim is inaccurate. There is no evidence that the CDC published this data.

Fact Check:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced on Wednesday that the government is going to relaunch a program to send Americans free COVID-19 tests, according to CNN. The site CovidTests.Gov was temporarily shut down last fall after concerns involving funding, ABC News reported.

An Instagram photo claims CDC data has confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccine could take 24 years off of a person’s life. “BREAKING: According to new CDC data, the Covid vaccine could take 24 years off of your life,” the caption reads.

The claim is inaccurate, however. The CDC website shows no data for the claim.

The claim appears to stem from an article by a site called The Exposé. Check Your Fact has previously debunked a claim from the site saying that the CDC “quietly confirmed” 118,000 people died from the COVID-19 vaccine. The Exposé regularly posts misinformation, according to HealthFeedback.org.

There are no credible news reports about the COVID-19 vaccine taking 24 years off of someone’s life. (RELATED: No, The CDC Did Not Say The New COVID-19 Variant Is More Contagious Among Vaccinated People)
