FACT CHECK: Facebook Video Falsely Claims Mike Pence Has Endorsed Kamala Harris For President

A video shared on Facebook claims former Republican Vice President Mike Pence has endorsed Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

Verdict: False

The claim is false. There are neither credible news reports nor social media posts from Pence or Harris to support the claim.

Fact Check:

Harris has a one-point edge nationally over the 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump, according to a new poll from CBS News. Harris is also “leading among women voters,” according to the same poll, the outlet reported.

The Facebook video claims Pence has endorsed Harris for president. “Mike Pence endorsed Kamala Harris… This is a [sic] honest man. God Bless U!! [sic],” text overlay that appears on the video, which features a photo of Pence, reads. “VOTE,” a second piece of text adds. The video bears a label that indicates it originally stems from TikTok.

The claim is false. Pence has not issued a statement endorsing Harris on his verified Facebook, X, or Instagram accounts. Likewise, Harris has neither commented on the claim via her website nor her verified social media accounts.

In addition, Check Your Fact has not found any credible news reports to support the claim that Pence purportedly endorsed Harris for president. If he had, multiple media outlets would’ve covered it, yet none have.

Actually, the opposite is true. Pence has been urged by his ex-national security adviser Olivia Troye to endorse Harris, The Hill reported. According to the outlet, Troye, who has launched the group Republicans for Harris, urged Pence to endorse Harris during a recent appearance on MSNBC.

“And if [Pence is] out there listening right now, I encourage you to do the right thing,” Troye said.

“Again, you’ve shown tremendous courage in the past. You know what’s at stake more than anyone here and your voice can make an enormous difference for conservatives across the country,” she added. (RELATED: Did Kamala Harris Make This Comment About Shuttering Veterans Affairs?)

In March, Pence said he would not endorse his 2020 running mate, Trump’s 2024 election bid, according to The Associated Press.
