FACT CHECK: No, A Tesla Smartphone Will Not Be Released at the End Of December 2024

A post on X claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk will launch a Tesla branded smartphone at the end of 2024.

Elon Musk will launch the Tesla Pi mobile phone at the end of 2024, and this phone has two features that no other mobile company offers:

1. This mobile phone doesn’t need charging; it automatically charges with sunlight, even when it’s in your pocket.

Verdict: False

No such product has been announced. Musk himself has stated in the past that it would only be considered if other companies did “really bad things.”

Fact Check:

Musk has been considerably involved in the newly-announced Department of Government Efficiency, or “DOGE,” a program he is working on with the support of President-Elect Donald Trump.

Rumors of a Tesla-branded smartphone have been running rampant for years now, and only heated up after his criticisms of Apple and their iPhone. Musk claims that the partnership with Apple and OpenAI, a leading artificial intelligence company, presents a major security threat. He has even gone so far as to say he will ban Apple devices at his companies over it.

A post on X claims that the long-rumored Tesla Pi smartphone will be launched at the end of 2024, and includes features such as sunlight charging and operates on Starlink, Musk’s satellite internet service.

This is completely false. Not only is this supposed phone not being released in 2024, it has not been announced as of yet at all. (RELATED: No, Elon Musk Did Not Visit Café Disguised As A Homeless Man)

Musk himself said on a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that a phone is not currently in development in any of his companies. He stated definitively at the 1:33 mark, “No, we are not doing a phone,” and said that he would only consider it “if Apple or Google slash Android started doing really bad things.”

A check for proof of this phone on Tesla’s website turns up no results. Musk’s personal X account, of which he is very active on, makes no mention of this either.
