A post shared on Facebook claims that actor Mark Wahlberg denied an opportunity to be part of a $2 billion Disney project.
A viral meme shared on Facebook with the same claim is labeled as satire. No reputable sources have reported on this claim.
Fact Check:
Social media users have been claiming that Wahlberg, who has appeared in Disney movies such as “‘Invincible,” walked away from an opportunity to work with the company on a $2 billion project.
One post reads,“Mark Wahlberg Rejects Disney’s $2 Billion Project: “No Chance I’ll Work With Them Again, Don’t Need That Wokeness in My Life.”
This claim is false. There are no reputable sources that have reported on this claim. Wahlberg is only known to have worked with Disney on a handful of projects and there is no record of Wahlberg denying a request to work with Disney. The claim appears to originate as satire. Check Your Fact found a post on Facebook with the same claim. The post’s image has been “rated satire” and contains a disclaimer that states, “Nothing on this page is real if you believe anything we post then you’re potato crop.”
The post’s caption also clarifies that the claim is satire, with the title of the article followed by the word “Satire.” The Facebook page’s intro reads,”We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real.” Fact-checking outlet Snopes also debunked this claim.
