FACT CHECK: Post Incorrectly Claims Kamala Harris Did Not Win Any States Requiring Voter ID

A post shared on X claims Vice President Kamala Harris did not win any states that require voter ID in the 2024 presidential election.

So they probably tried cheating & it still didn’t work.

Just highlights further the complete destruction of radical far left Ideology.

Verdict: False

Out of the states Harris won, Virginia, Colorado, Delaware and Connecticut require non-photo ID, and New Hampshire and Rhode Island require photo ID.

Fact Check:

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi attributed Harris’ loss in the election to President Joe Biden’s belated exit in the race and said she tried to get him to exit earlier, according to ABC News. Pelosi had tried to convince Biden to drop out after his performance in the first presidential debate and has now taken issue with Bernie Sanders’ comments about the party abandoning the people, the outlet reported.

The X post shows a screenshot of another post which reads, “Kamala won EVERY SINGLE state that doesn’t require voter ID…. She didn’t win a SINGLE state that requires it. It’s insane that this is just being ignored.” It shows two maps of the U.S., one with election results and the other showing voter ID requirements by state.

The claim is not accurate, however. Ballotpedia has a page showing voter identification requirements by state, which appears to be the same map used in the X post, but the post does not include the key—states colored in blue require photo ID, yellow states require non-photo ID and gray states require no ID. This map can be compared with the New York Times’ map of the presidential election results. Out of the states she won, Virginia, Colorado, Delaware, Connecticut require non-photo ID, and New Hampshire and Rhode Island require photo ID. Of the states that don’t require voter ID, she did not win Nevada or Pennsylvania.
