Fact Check:

Social media users are sharing a video of an explosion, claiming it shows a power plant in Haifa. One user wrote, “The Islamic Resistance of Iraq announced a drone attack on a power plant at Haifa Airport by issuing a statement.”

However, through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video was taken in Michigan and is from March 5, 2024. The video was shared on YouTube with the title “Teen killed by flying canister from explosion at Michigan vape distribution company, officials say.”

“New video shows the fiery explosion at a vaping distributing company in Michigan that killed a 19-year-old a quarter mile away, officials say. Fire officials say the teen was struck in the head and killed by a canister sent flying by the blast,” reads the video description.

A few Middle Eastern-based outlets reported that the Islamic Resistance of Iraq hit a power plant in Haifa, though Check Your Fact could not find any evidence of any drone attack being successful. Joe Truzman, an analyst for the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, said on X that the Islamic Resistance of Iraq claimed an attack happened.
