A video shared on Facebook claims that a Pennsylvania television station broadcasted election results.
Verdict: Misleading
The video is from a test undertaken by a Pennsylvania television station. It does not show the actual results of the election.
Fact Check:
The Supreme Court is considering Pennsylvania voting rules that could affect thousands of votes, according to NBC News. This comes as polls show a virtual tie between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, per the outlet.
Social media users are claiming that a Pennsylvania television station released early results. One user wrote, “So has anyone seen this yet??? WNEP accidentally aired these PA results for the upcoming election!! And you’re going to tell me they don’t cheat?? BULLSHIT!!!”
This claim is misleading. While the image is genuine, the results that were broadcasted are from a test, according to a statement from WNEP, the television station. (RELATED: Did Elon Musk Announce A New Tesla Feature That Scans The Driver’s Testicles?)
“Test results for the upcoming November 5 general election mistakenly appeared on WNEP-TV early Sunday evening during a broadcast of the Formula 1 Mexico Grand Prix. The numbers seen on the screen were randomly generated test results sent out to help news organizations make sure their equipment is working properly in advance of election night,” the statement reads.
There is no evidence that the election results were already decided. The Dispatch Fact Check also fact-checked this claim.
