FACT CHECK: Viral Facebook Image Does Not Show Authentic Truth Social Post From Trump

A viral image shared on Facebook purports to show a TRUTH Social post from 2024 Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump.

Verdict: False

The image originally stems from an X account that posts parody and satire, according to Snopes. Trump did not share the purported post to his TRUTH Social account.

Fact Check:

A new poll released by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics (IOP) at the Harvard Kennedy School indicates 2024 Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump by 31 points among likely voters between ages 18 and 29, according to Fox News. The poll indicates Harris has 61% support among the same demographic, compared to Trump who has 30% support, the outlet reported.

The Facebook image, which has garnered over 1,000 likes as of writing, purports to show a TRUTH Social post from Trump.

“YOUR LIFE IS A TOTAL MESS! YOU’RE BROKE, CAN’T EVEN AFFORD COOKIES! IMMIGRANTS ARE TAKING AND EATING YOUR PETS, FOLKS! WOMEN ARE MISERABLE-NOT SEXY, NOT SAFE! EVERYTHING YOU LOVE IS GONE, COMPLETELY DESTROYED! EVERYTHING IS HORRIBLE! YOU BETTER ELECT ME SO I CAN FIX IT, AND I WILL-BIG TIME! | [sic] KNOW I SAID THIS IN 2016, BUT THIS TIME I REALLY MEAN IT! LET’S MAKE AMERICAN [sic] GREAT AGAIN, AGAIN!” the text of the purported TRUTH Social post reads.

Besides Facebook, the claim also circulated on X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact did not find the purported post on Trump’s TRUTH Social account. In addition, the claim is neither referenced on the former Republican President’s official website nor on his verified social media accounts. (RELATED: Was A Bomb Found Near A New York Trump Rally?)

Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. In fact, the opposite is true. On Sept. 23, Snopes reported the claim was false. According to the outlet, the claim originally stems from an X account that posts parody and satire.

Additionally, the outlet indicated that Seana Davis, senior editor at Logically Facts, shared a post on X highlighting the image as satire.

“This fake Trump Truth Social is going around saying people ‘can’t even afford cookies.’ Early versions have a ‘satire’ label on the bottom corner, and some later screenshots have cut the tag,” Davis wrote. Davis’ post included side-by-side photos of the image, with a “satire” label visible in one and missing in the other.
