FBI confirms it is investigating another assassination attempt against Trump after golf club shooting – Washington Examiner

The FBI said it is investigating an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump after shots were fired at the Trump National Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday.

“The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach Florida and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” the FBI said in a statement.

The Secret Service also announced an investigation shortly after shots were fired at the golf course.

“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi posted on X.

Multiple gunshots were fired at the golf club while the former president was golfing.

Trump sent out a message around 4 p.m. saying, “There were gunshots in my vicinity but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL. Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!”

The White House also issued a statement after the incident, saying, “The President and Vice President have been briefed about the security incident at the Trump International Golf Course, where former President Trump was golfing. They are relieved to know that he is safe. They will be kept regularly updated by their team.”

“I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America,” Vice President Kamala Harris said in a statement.

Martin County announced they arrested someone related to the crime. There was a lone driver in the car they pulled over on I-95 and he was not armed, according to the Martin County sheriff.

Two law enforcement sources told the Associated Press that an AK-style firearm was recovered near the golf course.

The gunfire follows a previous assassination attempt in July, where a bullet grazed Trump’s ear during an open-air rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
