Fellow Race Car Drivers Honor Kyle Busch on Lap 18 of Indy 500 (VIDEO)

Racecar drivers honored Kyle Busch on Sunday on lap 18 of the Indy 500 in a nod to his number.

Two-time NASCAR champion Kyle Busch passed away on Thursday.

He was only 41 years old.

“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” the Busch family said on Saturday.

Race car drivers on Sunday paid tribute to Kyle Busch.

The Indy 500 held a moment of silence for Kyle Busch on lap 18.

The Associated Press reported that Kyle Busch was found unresponsive in a racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina, the day before he died.

The 911 call revealed Kyle Busch was coughing up blood before he passed away.

“I’ve got an individual that’s shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out and is producing a little bit of blood — coughing up some blood,” the 911 caller said.

The Associated Press on Sunday afternoon reported that Felix Rosenqvist of Sweden won the closest Indianapolis 500 in history by a margin of 0.0233 seconds.
