Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) said the election results out of Pennsylvania will be reached faster than they were in 2020, when there was an almost four-day delay.
“It’s certainly not going to be like it was in 2020,” Fetterman told CNN‘s Dana Bash. “It’s not going to be about two or three or four days coming out of Philadelphia.

“I’d like to remind everybody that’s watching, back in 2020, Pennsylvania just instituted brand-new, brand-new mail voting. And then, the Republicans refused to, they refused to change the vote — the law. They’re not able to look at those kinds of ballots at 7:00 a.m. at Election Day,” he continued. “But I do believe that Philadelphia is not going to have the kind of a lag that we had in 2020 because there’s no pandemic.”
He made the comments during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union. While predicting greater efficiency in vote counting than in 2020, Fetterman also mocked Trump’s claims of voter fraud, even swearing live on air to get his point across.
“It’s the same s*** that he played in ‘20, and that didn’t go anywhere,” he said, responding to Trump’s claims that Pennsylvania Democrats were “cheating” during early voting.
“It’s the same thing that he tried in 2020, and, you know, we had … absolutely a secure election,” Fetterman added. “And now, there was voter fraud in Pennsylvania, and it was a handful of Republicans, and they had, they had their dead moms voting for Trump.”
He was referring to a single case in 2020 where a man was caught filing a vote for his dead mother.
The Pennsylvania Democrat used strong language again, while touting President Joe Biden‘s performance in the 2020 election, predicting a similar outcome this time around.
“I’d like to remind everybody that Biden wrecked his s*** by 80,000 votes, and now we’re gonna be back in the same situation, he’s gonna try to lie and claim these baseless things, but now we’re gonna have a new team leading America, and that’s gonna Harris and Walz, but it is gonna be close,” he said.
Though he expressed confidence in a victory for Vice President Kamala Harris, Fetterman warned that Trump has a special connection with Pennsylvania voters.
“Whether it was Biden or… Harris, I think it’s going to be very close,” he said. “And Trump definitely has a connection with voters here in Pennsylvania, and that’s why it’s going to be close.”

Specifically, Fetterman voiced concern over the possible alienation of the Jewish vote in Pennsylvania over the war in Gaza. The Pennsylvania Democrat has been one of his party’s most vocal supporters of Israel during the current conflict.
The last polls before the election have Trump and Harris neck-and-neck in the Keystone State.
