A helicopter spiraled out of control and crashed near the shoreline of Huntington Beach on Saturday, leaving five people hospitalized.

Bystanders captured footage showing the helicopter at low altitude over the beach, seemingly losing control and spinning toward the ground.

The aircraft came down in a cluster of palm trees just off the road, with several broken fronds and tree damage visible at the impact zone, according to NBC Los Angeles.

Authorities report that two people aboard the helicopter were extracted from the wreckage and transported to hospitals.

In addition, three pedestrians on the street were struck or otherwise injured in the incident and were also hospitalized.

The current condition of the five victims remains unclear as medical personnel continue assessment.
