Food stamps: Florida SNAP payments for October worth up to $1,751 end in five days

October 23, 2023 04:11 PM

Florida households receiving payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will collect benefits over the next eight days before the program wraps up for October.

Food stamps are issued to SNAP beneficiaries in the Sunshine State from the first through the 28th of every month. Households typically receive their benefits on the same day each month. The exact day SNAP payments are sent out depends on the last two digits of an applicant’s case number.

Food stamp beneficiaries whose case numbers end with digits 00 through 81 should have seen their SNAP benefits by Monday. Case numbers ending in 82-85 should get their benefits on Tuesday, case numbers ending in digits 86-88 should collect payments on Wednesday, those ending in 89-92 should receive benefits on Thursday, those ending in 93-95 should get their payments on Friday, and those ending with digits 96-99 should get their money on Saturday.

Those who become eligible for food stamps outside of their digits’ date or past Oct. 28 will still collect benefits for October and will not need to wait until November.

Around 2.85 million people, or 13% of Florida’s population, receive SNAP benefits.

Per updated federal guidelines, Florida recipients may see an increase in SNAP benefits starting in October. The maximum payment is $291 for a household of one, $973 for a household of four, and $1,751 for a household of eight. Up to $219 is added to a household’s food stamps for each member after eight.
