Food stamps: Minnesota December SNAP payments worth up to $1,751 end in two days

Residents of Minnesota who collect benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will continue to receive payments over the next two days.
SNAP benefits are delivered to residents in the North Star State from Dec. 4 to Dec. 13. Food stamps are sent out based on the last digit of a recipient’s case number.

Those with case numbers ending in 4 through 9, 0, and 1 should have received SNAP benefits by Monday.
Recipients with case numbers ending in 2 should collect their benefits on Tuesday, and recipients with case numbers ending in 3 should collect their benefits on Wednesday.
A household of one can receive a maximum of $291, a household of five can receive a maximum of $1,155, and a household of eight can receive a maximum of $1,751. A household can receive a maximum of $219 for each additional person after eight. These amounts are based on the recent cost-of-living adjustments for 2023-24.
Around 435,900 Minnesotans, which is nearly 8% of the population, receive SNAP benefits. The average payment per household member each month is $157.

SNAP benefits are reloaded on an electronic benefit transfer card each month. Food stamps are intended to be used for healthy foods at participating grocery stores, farmers markets, and some online retailers.
The money should be used to purchase groceries, snacks, fresh food, seeds, and plants. Benefits cannot be used to buy alcohol, tobacco products, vitamins, live animals, prepared foods, or any nonfood household items.
