Food stamps: October SNAP payments for Georgia worth up to $1,691 arrive tomorrow

Georgia residents who qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive their monthly benefits beginning Thursday.
The food stamps program in the Peach State sends out payments on odd days from the 5th through the 23rd of each month. The final round of payments for this month is scheduled to be delivered by Oct. 23.

Benefits in the SNAP program go out in 10 waves. The date an individual receives his or her food stamps depends on the last two digits of the person’s client ID for the food stamps program.
The first wave of payments goes to those whose client IDs end in 00-09, and it will arrive on Thursday. The second wave is for client IDs ending in 10-19, and they will receive payments on Friday. Client IDs ending in 20-29 will receive their benefits on Oct. 9. Client IDs ending in 30-39 will receive their benefits on Oct. 11, and client IDs ending in 40-49 will receive their benefits on Oct. 13.
Client IDs ending in 50-59 receive payments on Oct. 15, client IDs ending in 60-69 collect benefits on Oct. 17, client IDs ending in 70-79 collect payments on Oct. 19, client IDs ending in 80-89 collect food stamps on Oct. 21, and client IDs ending in 90-99 collect SNAP benefits on Oct. 23.
In order to qualify for food stamps in the Peach State, individuals may not be making more than a certain annual income that depends on household size. The maximum annual income for a household of one in Georgia is $18,954, and for a household of five in Georgia, the maximum annual income is $45,682.

SNAP benefits in Georgia may be used to purchase food, groceries to prepare meals, and plants or seeds. Items such as ice, water, and room temperature foods that are “not designed to be consumed in the store” may be purchased with the benefits.
Items that are ineligible to be purchased using food stamp benefits on an EBT card include prepared meals from grocery stores or restaurants. More information on the food stamp program in Georgia can be found on the state’s website.
