Food stamps: October SNAP payments worth up to $1,691 for Kentucky residents to wrap up in seven days

Food stamp benefits distribution in Kentucky is coming to an end for October, with the final round of payments this month set to be sent out in one week.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program issues benefits to eligible residents in Kentucky between Oct. 1 and Oct. 19. Payments are typically sent out based on the last digit of a recipient’s case number.

Bluegrass State residents must meet certain income and household requirements to qualify for SNAP, including household and income limits. The average payment per household member per month is $202. The maximum payment is $281 for a household of one, $939 for a household of four, and $1,691 for a household of eight. $211 is added to a household’s food stamps for each member after eight.
SNAP is issued to low-income families and individuals through an electronic benefits transfer card, which can be used at participating grocery and convenience stores. Kentuckians can use their SNAP EBT card to purchase meat, poultry, and fish products, dairy items, breads and cereals, and other eligible groceries. Products such as pet food, alcohol, and household items such as paper and soap are not permitted to be purchased using SNAP.

Around 541,600 residents, or 12% of Kentucky’s population, receive food stamps, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.
