Food stamps are reloaded each month onto an electronic benefits transfer card, which functions like a debit card. Recipients can use the money at participating grocery stores and farmers markets, as well as some online retailers.
If a recipient is homeless or unable to cook, SNAP benefits can be used at some participating restaurants in the state. Some Meals on Wheels kitchens also accept food stamps.
