Former Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is joining NBC News as an on-air contributor after she resigned from her position within the GOP.

McDaniel will add a conservative voice to NBC’s lineup of political analysts. She is also expected to appear on MSNBC, the left-leaning affiliate of the network.

“It couldn’t be a more important moment to have a voice like Ronna’s on the team,” Carrie Budoff Brown, who oversees NBC News’s political coverage, wrote in a memo. She also added that McDaniel would add “an insider’s perspective on national politics and the future of the Republican Party.”

McDaniel stepped down from her position as chairwoman earlier this month after former President Donald Trump shook up RNC leadership. Michael Whatley and Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, took over the position as co-chairpeople.

“The RNC has historically undergone change once we have a nominee, and it has always been my intention to honor that tradition,” McDaniel said when she resigned from the position. “I remain committed to winning back the White House and electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November.”

Since the start of the Biden administration, NBC has made moves in hiring former government staffers. The network hired Jen Psaki, former press secretary for President Joe Biden, and Symone D. Sanders, a former chief spokeswoman for Vice President Kamala Harris.

McDaniel will join other Republican commentators including Marc Short, one of former Vice President Mike Pence’s chiefs of staff, and Brendan Buck, a former top congressional aide.

Her first appearance on the network will be Sunday on Meet the Press with Kristen Welker. It will be her first interview since stepping down from her position.
