Four Israeli soldiers killed, over 60 people injured in Hezbollah drone attack on northern Israel – Washington Examiner

Four Israeli soldiers are dead and over 60 people are injured following a drone attack by Hezbollah on an army base near the Israeli city of Binyamina, 40 miles south of the Lebanon border.

The IDF said, in addition to the four dead, seven soldiers were “severely injured” when a UAV launched as part of a drone attack by Hezbollah managed to evade Israel’s air defense systems. A total of 61 people were injured in the attack.

In addition to the drones, the Lebanese terrorist group launched rockets toward other cities in northern Israel, including Nahariya and Acre, in an attempt to trigger the defense systems.

“These drones broke through the Israel defense radars without detection and reached its target at the training camp of the elite Golani Brigade in Binyamina,” Hezbollah said.

The Golani Brigade has been deployed in southern Lebanon, where Israel has launched a ground operation.

The drone attack comes the same weekend that saw Hezbollah launch over 300 projectiles into northern Israel over Yom Kippur, an important Jewish holiday. The Lebanese terrorist group claimed it was targeting a “gathering of Israeli enemy forces.”

The Pentagon also announced on Sunday that the U.S. Department of Defense will deploy an advanced air defense system and U.S. forces to operate it to Israel.
