Gaines slams AOC ‘fearmongering’ over invasive sports ‘examinations’: ‘Just uninformed’

Riley Gaines slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for an “uninformed” and “fearmongering” attempt to deter bans on biological men participating in women’s sports.
On Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez criticized “hearings of men attempting to restrict the rights of women and telling us it is for our own good” during a House Oversight subcommittee hearing on the “Importance of Protecting Female Athletics and Title IX.”

During her comments, the New York Democrat invoked language originally included in an Ohio bill aiming to ban biological men from women’s sports, which stipulated they could go through “internal and external” exams to determine their eligibility.
“We are talking about opening up all women and girls to genital examinations when they are underage, potentially just because someone can point to someone and say, ‘I don’t think you are a girl,'” Ocasio-Cortez said.
Gaines, a former championship swimmer-turned-women’s sports advocate, pushed back at the idea of invasive exams while appearing on Outkick the Morning, saying Ocasio-Cortez was “incredibly just uninformed.”
“That’s incredibly just uninformed information she was spouting. That’s not the case for any state,” Gaines told host Charly Arnolt. “No, it’s called a routine physical. And it’s something that every athlete, including myself my entire life, has to go through. Certain states check birth certificates, certain sport governing bodies do cheek swabs, but there is no genital inspection.”
“Actually, the people who had their genitals inspected were the females in that locker room who had a man in our locker room,” Gaines added. “But that doesn’t matter to AOC or, again, any of the other Democratic members in the U.S. House, in the Senate, or the Biden administration. So, yes, I certainly agree that was entirely fearmongering. That’s absolutely what that was.”
Gaines, host of Gaines for Girls, said she believes women should be incentivized to stand against the participation of biological males in women’s sports and sit out, noting that she is offering to pay those women the prize money they would have otherwise had the chance at winning.

“I think it’s time,” Gaines said. “The Left, as they incentivize this idea of men competing in women’s sports … we need to start incentivizing on our side for women to stop participating in the farce. They need to be told they are worthy. They need to be told that they deserve fair competition.”
She continued, “And so I believe offering to pay the prize money that they would potentially lose out on — I believe that’s the way to do that.”
