Gas Prices: Costs remain steady to begin the week – Washington Examiner

Gas prices remained steady and did not change on Monday. According to AAA, the price for a gallon of regular gas remained the same as it was on Sunday, at $3.506.

Monday’s (and Sunday’s) price was slightly higher than what it cost a week ago for regular gas, when the price was $3.491 per gallon. A month ago, regular gas was $3.456 per gallon. A year ago at this time, regular-grade gasoline was $3.538 per gallon. 

California had the country’s most expensive gas on Monday, with a gallon of regular gas costing $4.791. This was a slight increase from Sunday’s price of $4.788 per gallon. Mississippi, on the other hand, was the state with the cheapest gas prices on Monday, with a gallon of regular gas costing $2.99.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the nation’s capital increased slightly on Monday to $3.72 per gallon. On Sunday, the price was $3.716 per gallon. A week ago, regular gas was $3.665 per gallon in Washington, D.C., and a month ago, it was $3.683.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Monday was $3.393. This was a slight increase from Sunday’s average price of $3.389 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $3.328 per gallon in Virginia. A month ago, it was $3.360, and last year at this time, a gallon of regular gas was $3.344.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maryland on Monday was $3.578. This was a very slight increase from Sunday’s price of $3.576. A week ago, the price for regular gas was $3.563 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland were paying $3.543 for a gallon of regular gas. Last year at this time, the average price for a gallon of regular gas was $3.567.

Delaware

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Monday was $3.453. This was a decrease from Sunday’s price of $3.461. A week ago, regular gas in the First State was $3.502 per gallon. A month ago, it cost $3.433 per gallon for regular gas. A year ago, gas was slightly more expensive, costing $3.469 per gallon.

New York

On Monday, it cost $3.624 for a gallon of regular gas in New York. This was the same price as it was on Sunday. A week ago, however, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Empire State was $3.587. A month ago, it was $3.628. A year ago, a gallon of regular-grade gasoline cost New Yorkers $3.680.

Texas

On Monday, the average price for a gallon of regular grade gas was $3.098. This was a slight increase from Sunday’s price of $3.093 per gallon. A week ago, gas was $3.104 per gallon in Texas. A month ago, regular gas was under $3 per gallon in Texas, coming in at $2.99.
