More than $10,000 has been raised for Black Lives Matter and “fat liberation” activist Zyahna Bryant to help the advocate with security.

Bryant, who is accused of leading the charge to see a white student expelled from the University of Virginia, has reemerged onto the scene as a partner with beauty company Dove.

The 22-year-old announced her partnership in an Instagram post espousing “fat liberation.”

“#DovePartner Fat liberation is something we should all be talking about! That’s why I am partnering with Dove, to support the work of @naafaofficial , @flareforjustice in the Campaign for Size Freedom,” the post read.

Her return to the public eye and alleged role in the expulsion of Morgan Bettinger from the University of Virginia in 2020 has made the activist a large target for public criticism.

Due to the criticism, Erica Chapman, a Virginia woman claiming to be Bryant’s cousin, launched the GoFundMe to pay for the activist’s protection.

“Sadly, in today’s national climate with so many angry, violent and unpredictable people, being a visible outspoken advocate and activist comes with significant risks. Zyahna has been receiving hate mail and threats for YEARS, and recently they have become worse,” the GoFundMe page read.

“Zyahna is currently a graduate student and we want to ensure that she is able to continue all of the work that she is doing in the classroom and in the community. We do not want to allow these racist attacks to take away from that.”

As of Tuesday, the page has raised $10,310 of its $15,000 goal.
