The Donald Trump campaign has released videos from eight Gold Star families amid criticism of its visit last week to Arlington National Cemetery.
Vice President Kamala Harris blasted Trump for the visit in a lengthy post on X Saturday, saying he “disrespected sacred ground, all for the sake of a political stunt.”
Trump staffers got into an altercation with a cemetery employee who was trying to enforce rules against political campaign activity at the site last Monday, while Trump was honoring the 13 soldiers killed in Afghanistan during a 2021 attack.
In the wake of the controversy, the Trump campaign has released eight videos in which Gold Star families defend his actions.
“We, the families of the brave service members who were tragically killed in the Abbey Gate bombing, are appalled by Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent attempts to politicize President Trump’s visit to Arlington National Cemetery,” the families said in a joint statement.
“President Trump was invited by us, the Gold Star families, to attend the solemn ceremonies commemorating the three-year anniversary of our children’s death,” the statement continued. “He was there to honor their sacrifice, yet Vice President Harris has disgracefully twisted this sacred moment into a political ploy.”
The families say Harris bears responsibility for the deaths of their loved ones because her administration led the Afghanistan withdrawal in which they died. They also claim to have requested a meeting with Harris, which was ignored.
Their video statements can be seen here:
“Vice President Harris has proven herself unfit to serve as Commander-in-Chief,” they said.
Harris, in her statement, said she would “never politicize” fallen veterans, and repeated the claim Trump referred to veterans as suckers and losers, which he denies.
“I will always honor the service and sacrifice of all of America’s fallen heroes, who made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of our beloved nation and our cherished freedoms,” she said. “I mourn them and salute them.”

The cemetery employee reported the incident but decided not to press charges.
“This incident was unfortunate, and it is also unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked,” an Army statement said. “ANC is a national shrine to the honored dead of the Armed Forces, and its dedicated staff will continue to ensure public ceremonies are conducted with the dignity and respect the nation’s fallen deserve.”
