GOP Senator Tim Sheehy Wins the Day with Hilarious Exchange with Pete Hegseth (VIDEO)
President Trump’s nominee for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth answered questions before the US Senate Armed Services Committee on Tuesday morning.
Democrat Senators used up their time during the confirmation hearing to smear Hegseth.
However, newly-elected Senator and former Navy SEAL, Tim Sheehy (MT) won the day with a hilarious exchange with Pete Hegseth.
“How many genders are there?” Sheehy asked Hegseth.
“Senator, there are two genders,” Hegseth said.
“I know that well, I’m a “she-he,” Senator Sheehy said to laughter.
“What is the diameter of a rifle round fired out of an M4A1 rifle?” Senator Sheehy asked Hegseth.
“That’s a 5.56,” Hegseth said.
Sheehy: “How many pushups can you do?”
Hegseth: “I did 5 sets of 47 this morning.”
Sheehy: “Most important strategic base is in the Pacific?”
Hegseth: “In the Pacific? It’s Guam.”
Sheehy: “How many rounds of 5.56 can you fit into the magazine of an M4 rifle?”
Hegseth: “It depends on the magazine but standard issue is 30.”
“So right there, you represent qualifications that show you understand what the warfighter deals with every single day on the battlefield. You understand what happens on the front line where our troops will be. What happens unfortunately in this country is – decisions made in rooms like this – bad decisions end up in dead 17, 18, 19-year-old Americans. And those Americans rarely come from families that sit in rooms like this. They come from lower, middle income families,” Senator Sheehy said.
Sheehy continued, “I don’t care, frankly what all these articles and letters say. I’ve been a part of a smear campaign too. I get it. I care that you have one thing in mind when you sit in that chair Your priority… So you have my support.”
