Hawley slams Democrats for pushing same ‘Russia’ play for third straight election – Washington Examiner

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) slammed Democrats and deep-state operators Thursday for pushing the same “Russian interference” play for a third straight presidential election.

“Nobody believes this stuff. This isn’t about foreign interference by Russia,” Hawley said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle.

“This is a smoke screen for domestic interference by our deep state and the Democrat party,” he added.

Hawley’s comments arrived a day after the Department of Justice unsealed a federal indictment against two alleged Russian agents who had sought to influence public opinion and voters through RT.

RT is a state-controlled media network funded by the Russian government.

“This is the same play they’ve run for years,” Hawley said. “In 2016, the FBI used this playbook in order to interfere in our election that year. Lie to a court, get wiretaps on Trump, and launder it through the media.”

“Then, in 2020, anybody remember the Hunter Biden laptop story that they suppressed? Big Tech went right along with it, and now it’s this again,” he added. “It’s the same old thing, and I just say again, nobody believes this stuff.”
