MSNBC host Joy Reid issued an apology on Monday night shortly after saying that President Joe Biden is “starting another f***ing war” on a hot mic.
Reid’s show, The ReidOut, was playing a clip of Biden talking about his readiness to shut down the border if it were in his power, adding that Congress needs to complete work on a border deal that would also provide financial aid to Ukraine. Toward the end of the clip, Reid made the comment before the mic was quickly turned off.

“I was chatting during a clip that was playing and you know, we try to keep this show very PG-13, so I just want to apologize to anyone who was listening to my behind-the-scenes chatter,” Reid said at the end of her show. “Deeply, deeply apologize for that.”
Biden argued on Friday that the Senate‘s Ukraine-border deal represents the “toughest and fairest set of reforms” to secure the border, and would provide an extra 1,300 agents to the Border Patrol. He argued that Republican lawmakers who are “serious about the border crisis” ought to pass the bill, which he would sign.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), however, sent a “Dear Colleague” letter to lawmakers on Friday, in which he claimed Senate negotiations are stalling and that the proposal “would have been dead on arrival in the House anyway.” The letter comes in the wake of former President Donald Trump and other Republicans encouraging Johnson to reject the Senate’s emerging compromise.
The issue of securing the southern border, along with securing aid for Ukraine in its war against Russia, comes in the week that Biden is visiting South Carolina for the Democratic Party’s primary election this weekend. Immigration has become a top concern for voters, with about 35% listing it as their top concern, ahead of inflation at 32%, according to a recent Harvard CAPS-Harris poll.
