Steil sent the letters to the attorneys general for Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Virginia, and Florida, on Wednesday, including data from their investigation, according to a report from Just the News.

The letters outline that the committee has found “suspicious trends” including donations not matching up with the net worth or history of the listed individual, frequent donations from older and first time donors, along with donations to politicians that are the opposite in ideology from previous politicians the individual has donated to.

“The final analysis produced a set of anomalous donor profiles, ranked by the severity of the
inconsistencies. In reviewing this analysis, it became clear there is suspicious activity occurring that
warrants further review,” the letters said, per Just the News.

Last week, Steil introduced legislation that he claims would strengthen campaign finance laws and close loopholes. The Secure Handling of Internet Electronic Donations Act, which was co-sponsored by Reps. Stephanie Bice (R-OK), Laurel Lee (R-FL), and Anthony D’Esposito (R-NY), would outlaw political committees from taking donations from prepaid credit or debit cards or gift certificates, while also mandating that a donation with a credit card must include a CVV and billing address.

ActBlue has been under scrutiny over alleged fraud and irregularities with donations being made through the platform, which helps raise money for Democratic candidates and aligned groups.

As of Aug. 25, the Harris campaign claimed it raised $540 million, partially through ActBlue. During the DNC, the fundraising organization claimed it brought it nearly $37 million on the last day of the Democratic National Convention, Aug. 22.

One of the attorneys general that was sent a letter from Steil, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, sent a letter himself to ActBlue last month seeking answers on the alleged irregularities with the donation platform.
