House GOP bids farewell to Bidenomics in new ad as Democrats back away from signature messaging

EXCLUSIVE — House Republicans are mocking Democrats over their quiet departure from the president’s signature “Bidenomics” messaging ahead of the 2024 election, mourning the dropped word in a parody “in memoriam” video as part of a new ad campaign.
The National Republican Congressional Committee released a new ad on Monday that jokingly bids goodbye to the word “Bidenomics,” featuring a number of recent headlines showing Democrats distancing themselves from the term as they head into the 2024 cycle. The compiled headlines are shown while the ad plays “Angel,” a song by Sarah McLachlan that is frequently used to pay tribute to someone’s death.

“Bidenomics has gone to find comfort in the arms of an angel — much like the rest of extreme Democrats’ candidacies come November 2024,” NRCC spokesman Will Reinert said.
The ad comes after reports that House Democrats are increasingly avoiding using “Bidenomics” in their campaign messaging even after the White House pushed the party to embrace the president’s term over the summer to boost his economic agenda. Since then, however, the term has disappeared from Democrats’ messaging as polling shows widespread disapproval of President Joe Biden’s handling of the economy.
More than half of voters say they disapprove of the president’s signature economic policy, with less than 30% of voters saying they view “Bidenomics” as being positive, according to a recent poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal. Instead, voters say they trust former President Donald Trump to handle the economy over Biden.
Meanwhile, the campaign fundraising wings for House Democrats, including the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the House Majority PAC, have largely avoided using the word in their messaging over the last several months. The DCCC has not used “Bidenomics” in its releases, while the House Majority PAC has only used it once.

Biden himself has also appeared to use the term less during his remarks on his economic agenda, although White House officials say the president is not backing down on the messaging.
“You can expect him to continue to talk about Bidenomics and how it’s delivered for the American people,” Michael Kikukawa, a White House spokesman, told the Washington Post.
