House passes sixth appropriations bill, second under Speaker Johnson

The House passed the legislative branch appropriations bill on Wednesday, the sixth appropriations bill it has approved as lawmakers strive to pass all 12 before the Nov. 17 deadline to fund the government.
The bill provides $1.851 billion in funding, $51.8 million less than the original fiscal 2024 request. This is the second appropriations bill Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has passed since assuming the position last Wednesday.

The annual spending bill provides for funding the legislative branch, such as member and U.S. Capitol Police officer pay, and funds other congressional services.

All Republicans and four Democrats voted in favor of the measure.
