House Republican leaders appeared alongside families of those taken hostage by Hamas on the one-month anniversary of their capture.

An Israeli American mother representing her son and two Israeli brothers representing their other brother spoke at a press event hosted by the House Republican leaders. The families highlighted their loved ones’ ordeal on Oct. 7 and asked for help in ensuring their safe return home.

“It’s been 30 days. Every day is like an eternity to me,” Doris Liber, mother of hostage Guy Iluz, 26, said. “I’m part of your people. You’re part of Israel, and America has been like the best ally. I’m so proud of being an American, being an Israeli as well. But I do need you now.”

Republicans also used the occasion to bash the Biden administration, with Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) directly blaming Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on the Biden administration.

“Under Joe Biden’s failed foreign policy agenda, we’ve emboldened adversaries like the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist organization and left our key allies vulnerable in their positions today,” he said. “It has now been over a month since Hamas terrorists took innocent American hostages, and yet we have no resolution and no plan or strategy by the administration. So, the families that were here with us today, I want to say that I’m praying for the safe return of your loved ones, and we’ll continue to work with my colleagues here in the GOP leadership to hold Biden’s administration accountable for their failure to protect the American lives in Afghanistan and Israel.”

The Republican leaders also denounced any talks of a ceasefire, saying they must fully support Israel in its war effort.

“This is not a time to be talking about ceasefires, pauses,” Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) said. “Hamas gave that up on the 7th when they went into villages and slaughtered people, when they attacked music festivals, peaceful music festivals, mowing down people, taking more hostages, including American citizens, too, and so this is a war. This is a war that the people of Israel are resolved to confront. It’s a war that we here in the United States are going to stand with Israel every step of the way to make sure these families get the relief they need to get their family members back.”
