How Biden is pushing immigrants into Trump’s arms before 2024: ‘I want Trump back’

President Joe Biden has trailed former President Donald Trump in various polls in recent months, with immigrants being the latest to express their discontent with the current commander in chief.

Democrats have traditionally done well with immigrants and Latinos in south Texas, but a Politico report found several voters in El Paso, Texas, who want Trump to beat Biden in 2024.

Daniela Simental, an immigrant from Mexico who did not vote for Trump in 2016, said she was considering him, with immigration being a key concern.

“It’s getting really bad with a lot of the people coming in,” Simental said. “I want Trump back.”

Her husband, Jaime Tacuba, also said that under Biden, “everything’s gone to s***.” Another citizen who immigrated from Mexico, Roy Rosales, said that a lot of Mexican Americans are “looking forward” to a Trump comeback.

“Trump, he started rough. But now that you see it, when Biden came in, he messed everything up,” Rosales said. “There are a lot of Mexican people looking forward to Trump.”

Frustration has been mounting in border communities as illegal immigrant crossings continue to shatter records under the Biden administration. Data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection show that officials encountered the highest number of illegal immigrants in a single day on Monday.

With the background of a record day of illegal encounters, the Senate and White House negotiators are attempting to patch out a deal on securing the southern border. Progress has been minimal, even as members from both parties attempt to get a deal tied with funding for aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

Trump has famously made immigration and border security a key component of his last three presidential campaigns, invoking concerns over illegal immigrants in his 2016 campaign announcement in June 2015.

The former president has garnered criticism for recent comments he made about some immigrants over the weekend when he said they were “poisoning the blood” of the country. He is leading the Republican presidential primary by a significant margin, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average, and appears likely to advance to a rematch against President Joe Biden in the 2024 general election.
