How Hillary Clinton has emerged as key champion of Biden’s 2024 campaign

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is becoming one of the most significant surrogates for President Joe Biden’s 2024 reelection campaign and is expected to play a larger role in shoring up his base support in the new year.
At a recent fundraiser in Washington, D.C., hosted by Clinton at her WhiteHaven estate, the former secretary of state and the Women’s Leadership Forum reportedly pulled in nearly one million dollars for Biden’s reelection. According to NBC News, former President Bill Clinton even appeared during the fundraiser.

However, her fundraising prowess isn’t the only support she’s lending to Biden’s reelection. Clinton is also stepping up as one of Biden’s higher-profile surrogates.
At a particularly difficult-to-navigate point in Biden’s presidency, as he manages the United States’s role in the war between Israel and Hamas following the terrorist group’s Oct. 7 attack, Clinton is using her foreign policy experience to back up Biden’s stances.
Democratic reactions to Biden’s support of Israel have been mixed. But Clinton has made the case for his actions on multiple occasions.
Clinton reiterated in an op-ed for the Atlantic last month that “the Biden administration is correct not to seek a full cease-fire at this moment,” something a growing number of young Democratic voters have been urging.
According to her, it “would give Hamas a chance to re-arm and perpetuate the cycle of violence. Hamas would claim that it had won and it would remain a key part of Iran’s so-called axis of resistance.”

Prior to the op-ed, Clinton defended both Biden and Israel during an appearance on ABC’s the View. She endorsed his “humanitarian pauses,” while continuing to push against a full ceasefire.
Per NBC News, these forceful defenses of Biden’s position, along with her demonstrated willingness and ability to fundraise for him, are evidence of her expanding role in his reelection campaign. In 2024, Clinton is reportedly expected to play an even bigger role, with former President Barack Obama also joining the reelection campaign to publicly support Biden.
