SiriusXM radio host Howard Stern clapped back at critics for calling him “woke” and doubled down by embracing the label.
The controversial radio star reacted to criticisms from fans upset about Stern’s gradual change of tone.

“I hear that a lot that I’m not good anymore because I’m woke. By the way, I kind of take that as a compliment that I’m woke,” he said on his show Monday.
He added, “And if woke means I can’t get behind Trump, which is what I think it means, or that I support people who want to be transgender or I’m for the vaccine, dude, call me woke as you f***ing want.”
Listeners of his satellite radio show have listened to Stern’s evolution in views from being a shock jock pushing the boundaries of controversial topics and sexually charged content on air. His latest commentary has grown increasingly critical of Republicans, former President Donald Trump, and critics of the coronavirus vaccine. He shared his support of TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney amid the Bud Light beer promotion controversy.
“I’m not for stupidity, you know,” he said, slamming coronavirus vaccine critics.
“F***ing science. This f***ing country is so great,” he said. “I am woke, motherf***er, and I love it.”
Stern continued to defend his “woke” label on his show.
“Here’s how woke I am. I believe the election was not rigged. I am woke. I think that’s a compliment,” he said.
Other hosts weighed in on Stern’s personality shift.
“I love that he says he is not for stupidity, from the man that created Fart Man,” Fox News host Greg Gutfeld quipped on The Five.
“There’s nothing in Stern’s previous career that could withstand this modern witch hunt that he now embraces. This is a form of restitution. He says if I am woke too, the crocodile will eat me last, but they always eat,” Gutfeld said Wednesday.
The late-night host analyzed Stern’s evolution from a common man to an elitist.

“He flipped from populous to elitist because now he is with elitists, living in the Hamptons. What would the Stern of now think of the Stern of before when the Stern of before helped create the wealth for the Stern of today? It is all to get to this place. Now he’s like a new person. He has a compound in the Hamptons. He’s got famous liberal friends. He’s got a former model as a second wife,” Gutfeld said. “The question is does he even need an audience? Does he have an audience? I have no idea. When you play the tune that’s now acceptable to your left-wing friends, the audience is irrelevant.”
Gutfeld added, “You’re safe. Never thought I would say that, but Howard Stern is safe.”
