An Illinois mother is charged with criminal sexual assault after allegedly having a child with her 14-year-old daughter’s date to a middle school dance.
Police opened an investigation after Robyn Polston, 43, gave birth to a child in January, according to an affidavit obtained by People. Investigators later reviewed the newborn child’s birth certificate and saw the child shared the alleged victim’s middle and last name. Polston allegedly told officers the father was “a man in his 20s named Brian” whom she hadn’t seen since the birth. (RELATED: ‘It Was Me And God’: Hunter Survives Weeks Lost In California Mountains)
Polston also faces two counts of possessing child pornography, the outlet reported. The criminal sexual assault charge carries a sentence of up to 15 years, while sentences for child pornography charges vary by severity.
Polston’s daughter brought the alleged victim as her date to a junior high dance in May 2023, where Polston was a chaperone, the affidavit says. The boy later moved away but returned in April 2024 — roughly 40 weeks before Polston gave birth — came back again in June, and moved back permanently in August.
Investigators also found sexually explicit images and videos of Polston and the teen, according to the affidavit. Polston and the boy allegedly used burner phones under aliases, 25 News Now reported. A DNA test later confirmed Polston and the teen are the child’s biological parents, the affidavit says.
Polston was arrested Monday, according to Local 12. She is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 4, People reported.
