An Indiana man will face no charges after he fatally shot another man who attacked him and at least one woman in a “fit of rage.”
The Washington County Prosecutor’s Office announced Monday that it would not file charges against Blake Henry, 24, for the death of Jacob Mitchell, 29, according to a report.
Authorities responded to Henry’s Salem residence on Sunday following reports of a shooting inside the home, Indiana State Police said.
Upon arriving on the scene, Henry was determined to have been “battered several times during the late-night incident” by Mitchell, who also “shattered a glass cabinet in a fit of rage” and “battered” at least one woman, according to ISP.
One woman told authorities she had “never seen anyone act like that before.”
He was “hurting everyone inside the home, and we didn’t know what he was going to do,” she said.
Mitchell had a history of legal trouble, including domestic violence, and Henry had been letting him stay in the residence he was renting.

When Mitchell turned violent, Henry took action and shot him, and he immediately called the police and commanded at least one person to “apply pressure” in an apparent attempt to save his attacker’s life, according to the report.
“After a thorough assessment of the events that occurred, it has been determined that Henry acted in self-defense, and in the interest of justice, no criminal charges will result from the investigation conducted in this matter,” according to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
