Indiana Man’s Vicious Machete-Style Attack on Cop Backfires When He Falls for Police Trick and Pays a Fatal Price (VIDEO)
An Indiana man paid a fatal price last week after he thought it was a good idea to launch a vicious attack on a brave law enforcement official.
As CBS Chicago reported, a 21-year-old from Gary named Shahaud Richmond was looking for someone to rob at roughly 12:20 PM Wednesday. He stumbled upon an individual near the streets of Maryland and Virginia who he thought was an easy enough target. He then attacked the seemingly defenseless man with his machete.
But little did Richmond know the man was an undercover police officer. Several cops had taken part in a secret police operation because of robberies that had occurred in the area.
Nearby officers then acted to save the day and gun down the thief. Never underestimate the ability of criminals to continue to fall for old police tricks.
Body camera and drone footage were released to the media on Friday. The body camera footage shows the two start walking across the street before the thug attacks the officer with a machete as they reach the curb.

Both the drone and body camera footage next show Richmond pursuing the officer before a second cop runs up and shoots the thug.

Other officers on the scene then shot Richmond as well. Following the incident, he was taken to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Gary police released the following statement regarding the incident:
“It is essential for residents to trust their local police to protect the most vulnerable members of the community. To demonstrate our unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, we have decided to make this information public.”
ABC 7 Chicago reached out to Richmond’s family Friday for another comment after they spoke out on Thursday, but has not heard back.
The Lake County Indiana Sheriff’s Department says the investigation remains ongoing. The officer who shot Richmond is currently on administrative leave.
