Iowa player Caitlin Clark credited for boost in game sales

University of Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark‘s career has seen an increase in ticket sales for Lady Hawkeyes games.

Ticket retailer Vivid Seats released data on tickets sold for the Lady Hawkeyes, finding that the average price increased 162% since last season. At that time, the team made it to the NCAA tournament but lost to Louisiana State University.

Since Clark joined the Lady Hawkeyes in 2020, ticket prices have increased by 207%. Fans were willing to travel 32% more this season compared to last season. Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team lagged with an average ticket price of $66 versus a $120 average for sold tickets to the women’s games.

Overall, women’s college basketball has seen a 46% increase in ticket sales this season versus last.

The Lady Hawkeyes team is currently ranked second in the Big Ten. Clark has the highest scoring and assists per game in NCAA Division I history with 43 games where she scored 30-point games. This is the most games within the last 25 basketball seasons.
