Comedian Jerry Seinfeld poked fun at the myriad of pro-Palestinian supporters who have protested his various events amid the war in Gaza, joking that they are “a little off target.”

Seinfeld has been one of several celebrities to call for the hostages in Gaza to be freed, with the Jewish comedian facing pushback from protesters due to this. Earlier this month, several students walked out of a commencement speech he was delivering at Duke University.

“It’s so silly,” Seinfeld said as he reflected on the protests he has received. “It’s like they want to express this sincere, intense rage. But again, a little off-target. That’s, to me, comedic.”

The comedian also criticized politics and how it divides people, describing people as “mobs believing their own crap.” He added that this division stems from humans being tribal creatures who are driven by “agreement and consensus and mob rule,” as it gives people comfort.

In December, Seinfeld visited Israel, where he met with the families of the hostages in Gaza, during which he said he felt “a deep commitment to raising awareness” for the hostages. When discussing his trip to Israel, Seinfeld described it as “the most powerful experience of my life,” becoming visibly emotional when thinking about it.

Seinfeld has not shied away from sharing his true thoughts, stating last month that political correctness and “the extreme Left” were responsible for the downturn in the quality of television comedy. He added that comedy is needed in the world “so badly” right now but that most people “don’t get it.”

The comedian is best known for starring in the comedic television series Seinfeld, which ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998. Since then, the show has retained its popularity on streaming, making it into the top 10 most-streamed shows of 2022.
