John Cornyn won’t vote for Bo French over ‘racist comments’

Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) will not vote for the Republican seeking a spot on a Texas commission overseeing the state’s oil and natural gas industry after the candidate made disparaging remarks about University of Texas football fans that were condemned as racist.

Cornyn called Bo French, the Republican nominee for Texas Railroad Commissioner, a threat to the GOP’s entire statewide ticket. French has drawn controversy for posting a photo featuring mostly students of color from Saturday’s game between the University of Texas and Ohio State and saying that “the problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.”
