The House Freedom Caucus has reportedly removed one of its members from the hardline Republican group, just days before the lawmaker is set to retire from Congress.
The caucus voted Tuesday night to remove Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), according to the Hill. The group decided to oust Buck over claims the Colorado Republican has not been in “good standing” with the caucus and has not regularly attended their meetings in months, the outlet reported.
Buck confirmed his ouster to Politico on Wednesday, saying he was informed of the decision the night before. A representative for Buck declined to confirm the Colorado Republican’s removal to the Washington Examiner.

Buck’s removal comes just days before he is set to step down from office on March 22, retiring early due to what he considers a dysfunctional House that has “devolved into bickering and nonsense.”
Buck’s early retirement also contributed to his removal, according to the Hill. One source told the outlet “he hasn’t been with conservatives on several major issues” and “is leaving the conference hanging with a historically narrow margin.”
