‘Leave The Moms Alone’: Biden Admin Sued Over Alleged Intimidation And Harassment Of Parent Rights Group

Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project is suing on behalf of Moms for Liberty demanding the Biden administration release certain documents regarding its coordination with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

The SPLC released a report labeling Moms for Liberty, a parental rights group with local chapters across the country, as “extremist” in June, placing the group on their list of anti-government extremists. Members of the SPLC have met with Biden several times, according to White House logs. “President Biden needs to leave the moms alone. But his crooked administration won’t because these parents are the only thing standing between the government and your children,” Mike Howell, director of the Oversight Project at The Heritage Foundation, said in a press release. “We know that the radical Southern Poverty Law Center has targeted the patriots at Moms for Liberty which resulted in an unhinged mob harassment campaign. We also know the Biden Administration and their weaponized law enforcement agencies work closely with the Southern Poverty Law Center.”

The Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and Federal Bureau of Investigation refused to comply with an earlier FOIA request Heritage placed requesting documents regarding how the administration coordinated with the SPLC.

“We are very thankful the Heritage Foundation is standing with our moms and fighting to get the public information surrounding the Biden Administration’s work with the SPLC. Why would they not comply with public records requests? What do they have to hide? We look forward to the truth coming to light,” Tiffany Justice, Co-founder of Moms for Liberty said.

Attorney General Merrick Garland called on the FBI to “use its authority” against parents who “threaten” school officials in board meetings in October 2021. The National School Board Association asked the Biden administration in 2021 to use anti-terrorism laws to restrict parents who voice concerns at school board meetings.

U.S. Department of Education Secretary Miguel Cardona allegedly solicited the National School Boards Association (NSBA) comparing parents at school board meetings to domestic terrorists, according to emails discovered in January 2022. The letters requested federal law enforcement to “deal with the growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation.”
