In a new book, former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney claims she had a heated exchange with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Jan. 6 during the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The House went into lockdown as rioters began to break windows and enter the building, and Cheney said the sergeant-at-arms told members to prepare to hide under chairs if necessary.

“Jim Jordan approached me,” Cheney wrote, according to a copy obtained by CNN. “‘We need to get the ladies off the aisle,’ he said and put out his hand. ‘Let me help you.’”
“I swatted his hand away. ‘Get away from me. You f***ing did this,’” Cheney said she responded.
A spokesman for Jordan denied to the Washington Examiner that the incident occurred. Several outlets received an advanced copy of Cheney’s book, Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning, which will be published next week.
Jordan spoke with former President Donald Trump the morning of the attack, previously discussing plans to object to the 2020 election results with the former president, according to White House records obtained by the Democratic-led House committee that investigated the attack. Jordan and several other GOP members refused to comply with a subpoena from the former House committee.

Days after the attack, Trump was impeached by the House for a historic second time, with all 222 Democrats voting to impeach, joined by 10 Republicans, including Cheney. In 2022, Cheney was ousted in the Wyoming primary by a Trump-backed challenger, with many crediting her loss to her rebuttal of Trump in 2021.
As a staunch ally of the former president, Jordan voted against the impeachment.
